5/8″ Minus Rock

5/8 inch minus rock is one of the most useful aggregate materials on any job site. The "minus" refers to the fact that it includes a gradation of material from 5/8 inch down to fine dust — and that mix of sizes is exactly what makes it compact so well. The fines fill the voids between larger particles, and when you hit it with a compactor, you get a tight, stable surface that holds up to traffic and load.

This is standard material for gravel driveways, road base, and parking areas. It's also widely used as base course under concrete and asphalt, and for general fill and leveling work where you need a surface that won't shift. If you're unsure which aggregate is right for your project, this one covers a lot of ground.

Common Uses

  • Gravel driveways and private roads
  • Base course under concrete slabs and asphalt
  • Parking area surfacing
  • General compactable fill and leveling
  • Pathways and unpaved surfaces
  • Trench backfill where compaction is required
